Majestic

This is a sibling piece based on my pencil and art work, The King. I had been meaning to try something bigger for a while, and The King served as the perfect preparation for me to go back to my favorite watercolor medium and to go one step further on the fantasy and abstract depiction of the lower tail feathers.

Once again, he's the star, with a focus on representing the head, neck and upper body with luminous colors and glazes. The tail feathers were so much fun to do, I loved making the eyes of the ornamental fan tail look increasingly like real eyes looking out at you. The environment is simple and clean to make sure all the focus stays with his majesty.
