Soaring - Framed
Soaring - Framed
Often when I paint or draw, the nature of the work goes in a pendulum. If I spend a lot of time being detail oriented and looking for realism, the next piece tends to be more fluid or representational.
This was the case with Soaring. I wanted to keep the composition free and open and really limit the palette to a few colors. In fact, this was completed with just one blue, two yellows and a tiny hint of red. The vista reminded me of looking out at sunup from a high hill or even as a plane takes to the air, where you can see for miles and miles, but the distinction between land, cloud, and sky becomes less and less clear as the eye looks further out. Maybe you can see a mountain in the distance, or a bridge, water, tree and foliage lines.
