Not Like the Others

I wanted to create a piece that celebrated things that stand out from their environment, hence the title.  In this work, the hero pansy is front and center, sunlit and proud against the background.  I particularly loved the raspberry reds and pinks, set against a cooler pineapple yellow in the background.  The lower unopened buds lent themselves particularly well to the addition of topographical inkwork.
