Irrepressible Gold

There's nothing that makes me happier than a bright yellow field. It might be any one of a number of crops, but one thing that shines is that despite the sky above, it always glows. In this painting, the clouds are ominous and almost stormy, but nevertheless the field still wins through, "Irrepressible Gold".

This work utilizes a combination of watercolor techniques with detailed realism added in using ink for the distant tree line on the horizon. In the foreground I used a more abstract topographical style to convey the undergrowth beneath the crowning glory of the gold flowers.
