Anglesey Mountains

This work is inspired by childhood visits to the North Wales coast; I wanted to capture the rugged, haunting beauty of flinty hills and rolling sea mists punctuated by the rhythm of yellow gorse that enlivens the landscape each spring.

The yellow and blue palette is simple by design. My 'topographical' ink work then carves out the physicality and architectural facade of the distant cliffs, as well as the forms and shapes bushes and grass. In the middle lies the restful sea mist that always seemed to permeate the landscape. It is a testament to the enduring beauty of the natural edge—where sea-mists and memories collide.
